The Canadian Dream

Somewhere, someone is living in a mansion
Somewhere else, someone is sleeping on the street
Somewhere, someone is making $100.00 a day
Somewhere else, someone is making $1.50 a day

Somewhere, someone is wearing Hollister clothing
Somewhere else, someone’s wearing second hand clothing
Somewhere, somewhere has Ipods, computers, TVs, video games
Somewhere else, someone’s lucky to have a meal a day

Somewhere, success comes easily to people
Somewhere, it’s hard to pass high school
Some people play Rep Hockey
Others can’t even afford the equipment

I don’t live on the street, nor in a mansion
I don’t make $10000.00 a day, nor $1.50
I don’t wear Hollister, but I don’t wear second hand
I play soccer, but I don’t have $5000 equipment
I’m just average

I’m not living the Canadian Dream
But I’m not living a nightmare
